Blue Experience is owned and run by Tim Neuman And Kathrin Zaplo. Tim started diving in 1993 whilst on holiday in the Maldives.
Bitten by the bug, it very quickly became his passion, and in 2002 he finally left the “Rat Race” back in the UK and spent the next 5 months in Australia completing his P.A.D.I. Instructor course and exams. Soon after leaving Australia he landed a job back in the Maldives and stayed there until early 2010.
“ It was time for a change of scenery, and I had been looking to buy my own place for a while.
Blue Experience actually came up for sale whilst I was here in Mexico looking at another dive school. They impressed me with their professionalism and high standard of customer service and after long discussions we came to an agreement and the deed was done!”
Tim’s diving has taken him all over the world, having dived In Australia, Bali, Curacao, Fiji, Guam, Egypt, Maldives, Mexico, Western Samoa and of course the U.K.
“ I freely admit that I find the UK too cold and not to my liking, I like warm waters! However these days I’m spending more time in the office than in the water !!. That will have to change!!!”
Kathrin Zaplo is relatively new to diving, having only started in 2009.
The lure of warm waters, no snow and no ice was more than enough to tempt her to pack her bags and leave her home town of Munich and join Tim as a partner in the business. “Now all I have to do is complete my Dive Master and then my Instructor course and exams” says Kathrin, “ I have set myself a target of October to complete the first part and then we’ll see when it’s practical to go off to do my Instructor course”.
“We are both committed to continuing to offer a “fun but professional” service to all our guests, no matter what level they are.
We have a great team of professionals here, all P.A.D.I. Certified Instructors or Dive Masters and with their help we can show you the great diving we have here, waiting for you in the Riviera Maya.
Alex PADI Instructor, Cenote Instructor. Alex has been diving for 10 years, having dived in Italy and Mexico. When he’s on a “day off” the easiest place to find him is in a Cenote - diving for fun! Languages - Italian, Spanish, English & French Emiliano PADI Assistant Instructor, Boat Captain, Emi has been working here since 2000 and when he’s not diving can be found round the pool giving Free try dives, or out on the boat with fishing/snorkelling groups. Emi spends his time off “in the jungle” Languages Spanish, English, Italian Fito PADI Dive Master, Fito joined the team as a Freelance Dive Master just recently and loves photography, hence when he’s not leading a group you may see him with camera in hand joining the divers. Lindsay
The newest member of the team, Lindsay joined the team in July of this year, after passing her Instructor Exams. Lindsay is also mad about photography and has two cameras already!! The next thing for her, she says, is to complete her Cave diving course!. When shes not diving, Lindsay spends most of her free time cooking or playing football!
Languages, English, Canadian American (etc etc)!! Spanish is next!!
Annie & Jasmin (Jaz) The newest, and youngest, additions to the team. You may find them here in The dive shop just doing what they do best, SLEEPING!.
Blue Experience dive centre is located right on the beach at the Be-Live Riviera Maya Resort and is easily accessible to guests and non guests alike. Just walk along the beach to the left of the resort and you will see us. We are open 7 days a week from 09.00 to 13.00 and again from 15.00 to 17.00.
